Archaeological tour
This multi-day tour provides the opportunity to explore the Minoan sites that were recently added to Unesco World Heritage Sites but also understand the culture and experience Crete like a local . Apart from the impressive sites you will taste the local food and wine in selected taverns and restaurants – the best the island has to offer.
1st Day Knossos palace and Phaistos and the museum of Heraklion. The tour allows you to explore the largest palace, Knossos and then continue to the south for the palace of Phaistos – which is the second largest. On the way back our last stop will be the amazing museum of Heraklion , one of the best museums of Crete and in the top 3 of Greece .
2nd Day . Zakros and Sitia . Starting early will be necessary , because we will be heading east towards Zakros . The amazing Neopalatial Zakros , connecting the eastern part of Crete with Cyprus and Middle East , Sitia was declared as UNESCO Global Geopark ( back in 2015 together with Psiloritis )
3rd Day Zominthos and Anogeia village . This day we will explore the central mountainous area of Heraklion and the recently excavated palace of Zominthos . The area we will be exploring is the mountain Psiloritis which has be declared as UNESCO Global Geopark .
4th Day Rethymnon and Chania – In Chania , in the old town – which we think you will love – is situated the Kydonia settlement , which is under the protection of Unesco . This tour gives you the opportunity to explore the old town of Rethymnon and also relax and feel the locals .
This multi day tour is all included ( but if you wish a customized experience by adding more places / sites or change the itinerary – feel free to contact us. )

General info
Cost: The cost of the tour is 4900 euro and refers to the cost for 4 full days program all included ( entrance fees- guiding services – transportation – lunch per day, with all taxes and 24% VAT included). Extra participants can be added with an extra cost of 600 euro per person during the booking process ( in the next step) up to 6 ( the company van will be used )
Duration: Estimate the duration of the tour per day at approximately9 hours per day – 4 days program. We will try to avoid the crowds , if possible, to provide a joyful experience.
Who organises the tour: The team of Guides of Greece Sustainable Tourism Development – Tailor Made Travel Services E.E – all our guided are registered and certified – and we work with a small team of guides in order to provide the best possible experience .
Group capacity: Maximum participants up to 3 in the SUV and 6 in the company van – for larger groups up to contact us to check availability and inform you about the cost. ( for large groups over 9 pax , audio will be used .) Contact us at visitknossos@gmail.com.
Important: The tour starts from Heraklion . You can also start from Chania ( so the first tour will be Chania – Rethymnon and drop off Heraklion for the rest of the program Heraklion has to be the starting point .
